There’s not much going on in my life, so I find this exciting.

So, earlier today, a friend who also majored in English at Wesleyan (and is going back for a BA in Women’s Studies, so we’ll be twinsies) sent me this photo and was all, holy crap, you look like Flannery O’Connor. I mean, I can’t disagree, so, knowing she spent most of her life in Milledgeville (where about half my family has been for generations upon generations), I jokingly said I would ask my grandparents if we were related.

And we’re not. So that part is still cute and funny lolz i guess.

But my grandparents know for sure that we’re not related, because they knew Flannery. They were neighbors. They rented a house from her mother. And never told me. Ever. How does that happen? Grandma’s excuse: “She just wasn’t a big deal when we knew her, guess it slipped my mind.”

But anyway, I know who I’ll be for Halloween for the rest of my life.

I guess the easiest way to find out how someone feels is to ask, but people don’t always tell...

I guess the easiest way to find out how someone feels is to ask, but people don’t always tell the truth, and when they do, sometimes their truth isn’t what you wanted to hear. So maybe it’s best to keep things the way they are.

I read Loving Frank, about Frank Lloyd Wright’s mistress. I read the diaries of Sofya Tolstoy. And now I’ve read Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. I put each of them aside a heavy sigh when I’ve finished. I’m not disappointed in the books, but in the lives of the women. The point of these books is to tell their side of the story, but in reality, and definitely in Zelda’s case, they didn’t get their own side of the story.”
